Nintendo Revolution's Power

Hi guys,

First of all, there are some people who comment using my name (blue color) and my URL profile.
This is a reason to say I'm not gonna comment anything, so if you see my name (blue color) and it drives you to my profile, it won't be me. But I'll keep reading all your comments and trying to answer them here.

On the other hand,I know that you want to know if Revolution will be a powerful system.
I know you're worried about it. Don't worry. It's an important aspect.
Nintendo is trying to "call" all gamers: "Casual gamers", for example is an important sector.
"Casual gamers" want "casual games" and power too.

DreamCast and PlayStation 2. Do you remember? PlayStation 2 was more powerful than DreamCast.
Maybe it could be a reason that has done that "casual gamers" buy PlayStation 2(...)

If Nintendo wants "casual gamers", they MUST do a powerful System and Nintendo has thought about it.
And not only a powerful system. Great Games to can eclipe any game (Hallo Killer, for example...).
Hollywood and Broadway, are the perfect combination.

"We are pleased to enter into this major technology development agreement with Nintendo."
Said ... ATI Technologies Inc (...)
"we’re looking forward to delivering technologies for future Xbox and Nintendo products" (...)

Yeah, it's too important to have the most powerful GPU to continue delivering technologies for Nintendo, for example(...)

Hollywood is the perfect name for one of the best GPU.

I'll continue saying the same: Nintendo Revolution is more powerful than Xbox 360 and
it can blow xbox360 away(...).

So you'll wonder why. I've not been on the GPU development

Let's see the reasons, I'm not gonna speak about it so much althought(...):

I want to thank an internal source from Nintendo for his information(...):

-533-600 MHz custom-designed chip
-16 MB embedded eDRAM

More powerful than Xbox 360(...)... I can't say anymore.

Nintendo DS has 2 cores. For Nintendo, this is a good idea . Maybe, you think Revolution
has 2 cores(...).

That's all guys, see you later...

Hello Osoko,

Can u try to answer a few of my questions in ur next blog, because i am not totally convinced that u are not making things up.. i do believe something about u, anyway.

U said this in ur first blog:
"Sorry, I couldn't have access for GPU information. I promise you I wish to have information about GPU."

How come u got information about it now?

About the controllers, u posted this picture:
http://www.blogadictos.com/upload/revo28vf.jpg
and said that it was one of the many prototypes Nintendo made. I am not convinced about that. For my information, someone posted this on a forum, with the initials AJ. The same initials u see in the top left controller (look good). Nintendo would not do such a thing.

Explain this:
"Read the next things:

Nintendo, will hit all rivals with its upcoming revolutionary system because..."rs can read DVD's and HD-DVD's"
HD-DVDs is a technology which can arrives until 45GB...Zelda's next game will use almost this capacity(...)
Do you remember the pic about "HD-DVD RS"? it can be true? let me tell you that the pic is true!"

opposite of this:
" I have not contradicted with my words.

I've said the next thing:

--->RS doesn't means HDDVD...

--->RS means another thing

--->HDDVD RS pic was a fake

HDDVD won't be called "RS"... see you TOMORROW to see your ANSWER.
DON'T BE IMPATIENT!

Can you understand me?

So...R...e ;)"

Also, i would like u to comment about something else:
"I was wondering, i’d read earlier somewhere that theres a new, more efficient, and faster way to read disks. This involves the lens rotating around the disk where as right now disk’s spin inside a cd drive." (not your quote)

And the HVD format.

Well thats it for now, i hope u will answer/explain/comment my questions.

Osoko you didn't answer my request..:( Will you continue to give such wonderful information? I'm pleased if you will...I really like reading this blog to let you be silent!! =) (I'm bad I am!) =)

And other thing did you read my comment about the controller?? I did hit something or not?? When I read that site and today I've read another who says the same thing and have an interview with a hipotetic company who made the concept for Revolution controllers...So please...it would be nice if you comment something of my theory! :)

And at last I have a question...

I'm from Portugal (great country!! :) lol ) and for the Nintendo plans going on-line will it reach europe and more precisely my country...Portugal?? I ask that because here Nintendo has a very week week support from the representative here in Portugal and i've never heard something about nintendo online plans in europe and I fear that these countries will not have Nintendo online...they in fact have forgotten europe for a long time...:( We're the last ones who get a game we're rarely see some major marketing campagnais...I really hope to see my Revolution Online here in Portugal I hope that someday I will kick your asses in SSBO for Revolution!! =) (just kidding)

I'm just wondering if the size of the revolution will be bad for its processing power. I mean just look at the ps3 and xbox 360 which are considerably larger than the revolution. If the spec of
"-533-600 MHz custom-designed chip
-16 MB embedded eDRAM" is correct and that "it can blow xbox360 away" I think it doesn't really have that much room, if its that powerful i'm sure they'd need to have some really good cooling system in there too. I suppose the rev doesn't have a HD so thats gonna make it smaller but then again how much would the revolutionary features take up ?

The comment from Itawa saying that the gamecube will be 2-3 times more poweful was strange, it doesn't seem very powerful at first but when you look at it from a graphics card point of view maybe its not too bad after all...for example the gamecube 'flipper' graphics card by ATI ran at 162Mhz, and according to Osoko's claim that the revolution graphics card will be between 533-600Mhz.

162 Mhz x 3 = 486Mhz ( round it up to 500Mhz)

Doesn't seem too bad when you look at it this way. The xbox 360 has an ATI 500Mhz GPU, PS3 has 550Mhz GPU.

Hopefully Osoko is right and it will be between 553-600Mhz.

Neel.

How do you know they are ripped from PS3? When it comes to graphics cards the xbox 360 and PS3 have similar numbers, its hard to tell that they are ripped from the PS2 based on just Mhz speed and eDRAM amount.

Well, there's Blu-Ray support- Nintendo would never support Sony like that- touch pad controllers- Iwata said that there wouldn't be touch screens on the controllers- and 12 cores in the processor. Even the best technology has no more than 4 cores, and that is years away from production. And, if the Revolution is as small as people say it is, there won't be enough cooling for the cores. Also, why 7 wireless controllers? That is for PS3. It would be cool if this stuff was true, but I doubt it.

Hello Osoko. First off, I'd like to say that i've been a supporter for as long as this has been up. Now then. I was just wondering about development on the Revolution. There has been some talk about cube mapping, and how it could significantly lower developing costs on the Revolution. There has also been some talk about Nintendo getting indie developers. My question is, do you think theres a chance that, the PS3 and Xbox360 will be hell to develop for, therefore the Revolution sees more games? Thank you.

dont know if your fake, or real, but keep it up, you at least give me (us) an idea of what we could expect, and the controller will be touchpad, that way, someone said (i think it was regie) "imagine a controller that lets you play every nintendo game", whenever you load up a nes game the screen shows those buttons, every gamer can either upload a personal image, and posted as background for the controller, or buy special nintendo ones.

Each developer will have the freedom to employ the screen in any way, using the buttons depending the game, and they also can show media, promos, and other stuff trough the controller screen.

In other words, the controller kinda acts like a hub screen.

1-Sony (the power in graphics).
2-Nintendo (the power in innovation).
3-Microsoft (The power on Halo and on XboxLIVE service)

I hope a good future for Nintendo because is the only last "clasic" company that goes around (I really miss Sega! :´( )

HEY OSAKA!

A quick question for you!

You talk a lot about this 'Halo Killer'. Is this from the same team that left Rare after Goldeneye, and worked for Free Radical during the development of the first two TimeSplitters games?

I remember reading that the core of the team had moved and were developing a gamecube exclusive FPS, but have not heard anything on this for a couple of years. Do they have anything to do with this online FPS you speak of?

Just because Retro Studios announced they were making Metroid Prime 3 doesnt mean its true.
Why do you think they showed very little of it in E3? They want to surprise Bill with this new game.

I think some countries will not have Ninternet since you need Wi-Fi.
Its very hard to get Wi-Fi in some countries and probably impossible in Portugal. Though Nintendo has said they were thinking of a way that you change your modem to allow internet.

Some of you people are very silly, Aries is true, not sure if Osoko Tanaka is though, hes preety much just said what Aries said :/

you have been reported to Nintendo

they don't respond to rumours and say there are lot of people like you - just wait and see, check the news from game sites and Nintendo

they can't stop people like this liar and he is not linked in anyway with Nintendo - because he is not pretending for illegal purposes they can't do anything - its nothing major and some people claim this to get visitors

he is just a saddo - if he was lying to other companies or doing something serious - he would be in trouble

Nintendo have a record of everyone working for them - no record of this guy - no insiders - no alias or anything

The people who have left haven't done this and are loyal and there has never been anything like this with them or any other game company

What a load of rubbish - keep going, you weirdo

Hi Osoko,

I have a question. You said that Revolution would use a 12cm disk for games and would have a capacity bigger than DVD's.
If that's true, then that means that Revolution supports blue-ray.

¿Why will Revolution be able to read blue-ray disks when that technology belongs to Sony?

Osoko,

Explain why Nintendo failed to reveal anything on May 19. You kept on telling us that it was the big "N-day".

Pretty crappy sources if you ask me. If you want credibility, then actually tell us something about the damn machine.

I just want to know why the who people support Osoko don't acknowledge that the information he gave was disputed.

BTW..I'm japanese and Osoko is not a real japanese name. It just sounds japanese foreigners.

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Do we really need help from "anonymous" users who claim that Osoko is a fake? Everyone choose what they want to believe, you might as well go bash religions and people who believe in god(s). Much of the stuff in religion is without proof, just faith. So get the hell out and stop wasting bandwidth. After all you "anonymous" useres bitched so long about Osoko being a liar and a fake there are still people who believe, this obviously means that they dont think the same way you do so you can stop trying to violate freedom of thought and speech of individuals.

Go away and wait for official announcements from Nintendo if you dont want speculations and predictions. He is not obligated to show any proof, just believe it if you want. Don't be hating if he lies/lied. I'm sure as hell that all of you have lied sometime, hypocrites. Since when do all you "anoymous" users care so much about other people? DO YOU REALLY CARE IF THOSE BELIEVERS HAVE BEEN BETRAYED BY OSOKO? I know you dont, so once again, get the hell out.

It is like this guys. These two people are FANS of Nintendo. And, they have WISHES for what nintendo will do , or guesses, so they try and make themselves credible by saying they have "inside information". They feel they can pull this off because their information seems "believable" it brings hype and excitement to fellow nintendo fans.

I admire the fact that they are optimists for nintendo with good ideas, however, they are lowly humans and pieces of trash for lying with no conscience. these are SICK people

m pretty sure the info im gonna release is already out in the japanese news and chinese, maby western also. But this info i have right now got to me in Feburary this year. So i dont know if you guys have seen it already, i hope not though . Also this info wasnt released by nintendo themselves , so i might be taking a risk...lol...

You ask about 2-3 times more powerful, what if its 20-30 times more powerful .

Alright, here are some specs from my sources about Revolution. Its still not the complete or "Satisfied" specs, but they are the numbers that would rival xbox 360 and PS3, like i have been saying all this while.....

Revolution Specs

CPU: IBM Custom PowerPC 3.5 GHz + 4 internal Power PC G5 cores running at 2.5 GHz each. Each core will have 128 KB or 256 Kb L1 cache. The whole CPU will share 512 KB - 1 MB of L2 cache. As you can see they are deciding wether to go up one notch. But never the less, its a very powerful CPU with 4 custom G5 cores.

There will also be two hardware threads per core, 8 hardware threads total.

12 billion dot product operations per second

Theoritical of 10 GHz total + 3 GHz CPU speed

Xbox 360 CPU:

Three symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each = theoritical of 9.6 GHz + 3.2 GHz CPU speed
Two hardware threads per core; six hardware threads total
VMX-128 vector unit per core; three total
128 VMX-128 registers per hardware thread
1 MB L2 cace

Revolution GPU

ATI Custom based RN520 core. the "N" stands for nintendo, and is because the ArtX team is with them, thats why its an "N". There will be 2 GPU cores (just like the nVidia SLI motherboard with two Graphics Chips), this will use ATI's alternative, and will be the first in any console.

Both GPU's will have 256 MB's of GDDR4 memory, with an addional 16 MB of eDRAM total. eDRAM is an onboard f|ash memory, just like the 3 MB on
the gamecubes flipper.

The cores will run at 600 MHz each, (rumours are that its possible 500 MHz each), but i doubt that.

24-to-48 way parallel floating-point dynamically scheduled shader pipelines for each core with unified shader architecture.

Polygon Performance: 500 million triangles per second theoritical, average ingame would be around <100 Million/sec

Shader Performance: 48 billion shader operations per second

Revolution memory

512 MB of 700 MHz Updated 1T-SRAM (its a totally redone design of something new, remember the nitrous i talked about)

Also, as I said I’m going to add more info, the Revolution will support a PPU chip (Physical Processing Chip). This chip is very new to computer architecture, and it will mainly help in the physics area. There will be 32 MB’s of its own RAM, which will link to the CPU and GPU. To compare to the usage of physics used in current games, Half Life 2 only used 5 MB’s, Rebel strike used around 1.3 MB’s, and RE4 used 3 MB’s, but this is off main memory, which made performance issues.

There will also be a separate sound card that will support only DD 5.1 – DTS 7.1, rumours has it will have 16 MB’s, like the Cube DSP.

Yes, this has been patented by Nintendo.

because of the 90nm process. ATI and IBM have the coolest running with copper inductors. ATI also got their prototype of an aluminium based solution by Sapphire, thats cooler than water based cooling systems.

This will allow nintendo to sell it at a lower price.

The new method of cooling that they are utilizing will make for a very small, yet very powerful console at a cheap price.

You have to remember that nintendo is not packing their console with usless multimedia functions.

Nintendo is trying to make a cheap efficent system, and that's why these specs make sense.

90nm process is cheap and efficent, but produces alot of heat, it's a cheaper alternate path, but you have to have the cooling resources

Liquid metal coolings loops, cheap, very efficent, electromagnetic pump, no moving parts

512 meg flash instead of harddrive, cheap, and no moving parts, so efficent

When you think about it, revolution didn't have to deal with stuffing their system full of so muchmultimedia based equipment,
they were able to successfully cool of a cpu using the 90nm process. That's why Nintendo has power, price, and lack of features

Those Damn Rumors

I have no intention of spreading this entry to anyone. However, should anyone find it, they are more than welcome to read it.

There are a couple of blogs out there relating to the Nintendo Revolution. Its quite amusing to read through them all due to the bizarre "facts" these insiders claim to have. This one will hopefully be a little different

Who am I? Well, I'm a Technical Analysis for a game developer. No, I'm not going to say who it is, as that would obviously land me in a lot of trouble. But what is my job? My job is to analyze current and future technology that is applied to gaming. This is a long task when it comes to PCs, due to all the different combinations of hardware, but with consoles it’s much easier. To put it simply, I get to see consoles very early and get deep details. With these I then speak to the developers about the hardware, what it can do, and other business. I also get to see games being developed for that specific console by my developer, as I'm required to give technical advice whenever necessary.

Now, what can I say about the Revolution...it’s out there, I can tell you that much. But first I'd like to speak of the so called "Game" Nintendo are playing.

I've heard of no such game in my life. That does not mean it does not exist, but as far as I'm aware Nintendo at no point were playing some sort of bizarre marketing game with the public. What I CAN tell you is this: There is plenty to the Rev that was not shown at E3. People tend to make an assumption that if it’s not announced it does not exist. Rubbish. Nintendo are very far into development of the Revolution, they just chose not to show off everything.

There’s a time and place for everything, and that specific moment at E3 was not it.

I think I'll leave this here, but I'll continue to make blog entries whenever I get the chance. It should be noted that this blog won’t be about my personal life, but more directed to Nintendo Revolution hardware and software.

mr ap the worst of the worst?

ur a fucking idiot if you think hes worse than this Osoko bullshitter. Hes done nothing but lie his fucking bitch ass off and then take back what he said.

All you fucking dickheads go through this and think its real. heres a tip.

go through his old post and look at all the stuff he confirmed like the HD-DVD and realise they were PROVEN FAKE.

OSOKO HAS SAID STUFF IS VERY VERY REAL AND THEN THEY WERE PROVEN FAKE.

if you cant understand that and then still believe him you have mental problesm, really

u fucking idiot you didnt even quote it properly. he said he was a technical analysis and then said it was a typo, its analyst and technical not for games like you said. he never said he was for an important company either. read it properly next time dickfucker.

Lol kid, thx for the insult, makes you sound smart and cool, really. Now why do you get so angry about this blog anyway? Unless it's yours...lol
A real professional (whatever wich company he works for) wanting to stay anonymous just wouldn't say he's a professional, that was my point (sry for the wrong quote, but the idea remain the same). Only a kid wanting to catch ppl attention would.

o kid, btw: "I'm a Technical Analysis for a game developer" is the correct quote...
"its analyst and technical not for games like you said[...]read it properly next time dickfucker."
so next time, before throwing your kiddy insults at my face, you too should learn how to read...
(and before talking about dicks, wait till yours grow hairs)

Hmmm, I have info on Rev. but it's too important...I can say this, I have an insider...here is a clue. imagine playing a game and you can 'feel'the game, and this is the clue to the Revolution...the game feels you!!!

Lol, O.K that was obviously fake, but seriously, there are so many of these blogs that I can't be bothered caring about them all. I'm not saying Osoka is a lier, but he's not exactly telling us anything we don't know. Actually, he is a lier... but still, this blog makes for good reading.

But if he revealed something that maybe made us think, 'hmmm, thats a good puzzle i wanna figure out'or if he actually told us something about the actual Revolutionary part, then people might belive him.

what r u talking about?? Microsoft is like 10 times more powerful than the Revolution...
y doesn't Nintendo try to catch up with the other system out there and include the DVD player with the rest of the system...
also, the Revolution should really be bigger, like the size of a text book.. and then they use that extra space for more power

You mean the Xbox 360 is 10 times faster that the Revolution. This is not true, the speed of the Revolution processor(s) have not been officially confirmed yet.It could well be that the Revolution is faster than the xbox 360.

"It's not how size that counts , it's how you use it"
